Like many here, I too have a silicone gasket on my BJ-8, and find it cut the leaks down to just about nothing. I have an allot rocker cover and did as others have described – applied silicone sealant between the cover and gasket, ensure it sets on an even surface and let it cure before use.

The one thing I would do different is I would put blue painters tape all around the cover before attempting to apply the silicone sealant. I figured I could be careful enough to get none on the cover, but as we all really know – that stuff goes where it wants to go…

My notes tell me I got the one recommended by Bruce Steel on this list, sourced from Alexander Racing Enterprise/Vintage Racers.

Subject: [Healeys] Rocker cover gasket

I have the excellent Ray Juncal rocker cover with a cork gasket. I noticed that Moss sells a silicone gasket. So 2 questions for the list:

1. Is the silicone gasket worth it?

2. Moss has 2 versions, one for the original rocker cover and one for "alloy covers". No other explanation. Anyone have an opinion on which to get?

Thanks.
