We all have them when either the brain isn't in gear, or you don't focus enough.
Trying to remove the slack from the BN3's gear change. It's a 100S gearbox, therefore sideshift, and the same from the BN2 through to the early Mk2 Roadsters.
Removed the gearstick and all okay. Put it back in and 'tinkle, tinkle' the sound the brass bush falling down into the black abyss.
The car is now on jack stands and the oil is about to be drained so the sideplate can be removed.
A moment of stupidity.
