Having said that, I do not purchase new pumps, I have originals rebuilt. The
place I use, is not inexpensive, but their work is fantastic, that is enough
for me.

Just went through this ordeal. As you know, there isn't much choice for 
100 pumps from the 'usual suspects;' it's either County or 'uprated.' 
'Uprated' is a brand called 'Bastuck;' I believe they're a German 
company. They do appear to have a somewhat better-designed impeller and 
compared to County they turn smoother (you probably know I'm not a big 
fan of County). Though otherwise a decent pump, the Bastucks have two 
issues:

1) The thread for the heater return line--it's probably metric--will not 
fit the 100s nifty brass valve; you're stuck using the barbed nipple 
that comes with the pump. Disappointing since I've tried to keep my 100M 
original as much as possible and I have a lovely, original brass valve I 
can't use.

2) The pump body has a threaded plug; for god-knows-what reason the 
threads are extremely loose and all but impossible to seal up. I tried 
the usual teflon tape, red threadlocker, 'normal' pipe sealant and JB 
Weld and none would seal even without being under pressure (the threads 
are really rough). I ended up brazing the plug on one pump, but feared I 
might have damaged the seal due to the heat required (oxy/acetylene) to 
heat the cast iron. In desperation, I bought a County pump but the 
bearings felt a bit rough. I got a tip from another Lister and sprung 
for a new Bastuck pump; the lister pointed me to this (apparently) new 
product from Permatex (NFI):

This stuff worked a treat, but be sure to follow the instructions re: 
cleaning and let this stuff cure for 72 hrs.

I've seen 'OEM/rebuilt' on eBay but can't vouch for them (they 
apparently have an older type seal). Tom Monaco knows someone he trusts 
who rebuilds them, but the guy's backlogged and Tom hasn't remembered to 
let me know when he gets some done (I've already pestered him a couple 
times). Any rebuilt OEM is liable to run $400 or more. Oh, and last I 
checked the Bastuck were sold out; BNP had some but apparently they took 
them off the shelf (possibly because of the issue with the sloppy plug).

Wanna buy my new, in-the-box County pump? FWIW, the County pump I 
received has a similar barbed nipple for the return line and it appears 
to be epoxied in.
