I figured you would be experienced in travel precautions, but Rome is especially bad. Had a neighbor go there last year and was pickpocketed so I thought a reminder would be good. Hope you enjoy the city, it is a beautiful place. I’ve been all over Italy and love most of the places I’ve seen there, from Milan to the Amalfi Coast. Rome is the epicenter for so many things to see, eat, and do. The bus pass is a good way to quickly see the things you want to spend time visiting. The gypsy’s ride the busses and will steal purses right off your shoulder, my wife’s daughter had this experience about 15 year’s ago there, but she was able to keep it with help form other passengers.

We've been to Barcelona, NY and other cities with the same warnings without incident, so It's hard to heed such concerns. We are seasoned travelers and do not do silly things. That said, button down shirts are a good idea.
Thanks for your concern

Also be on the constant lookout for pickpockets! Especially around Trevi Fountain. They are everywhere in Rome. Bands of gypsy’s prey on tourists. Not trying to scare you, but I’ve been there several times and you have to be vigilant. Keep valuables inside your shirt, not in your hip pocket. Wear pants with zipper pockets.
Check out the link below or just google the subject. Here is one article that gives tips:

Not trying to scare you off, but it is a large city with and with that comes the inevitable crime. Enjoy the city but just be careful.

If it is only 3 days in Rome enjoy the small restaurants and cafe's. Practically all are good. Remember eating and drinking out is a culture in Italy. Do not expect huge portions. Enjoy the excellent food, wines and coffee. Italians are natural hosts. Places to see: plenty but if it is your first time you have to see the Forum Romanum and the Coloseum. That will take care for most of 2 days. Just wander around and take in the atmosphere. Do not visit the main shopping streets!!

You may see 50+ year old Fiats 500, 600 and 850 still buzzing around.

Da Vinci sounds great. We will stick close to That me as it is our first visit. And suggestions for our of the way cafe or restaurant would be great.
Thanks

As said by Kees, there are not many auto museums near Roma. If you are going to go up north, you WILL have a bunch around ‘motor valley’. I was in Modena in December and visited Ducati and Ferrari – both were great!
On the positive front: If you are a car person, you likely also appreciate various other machines and so I recommend the Leonardo Da Vinci Experience in Rome. We also visited that, and it is not to be missed. See: https://www.leonardodavincimuseo.com

Howdy all,
Any leads on a car museum in or around Rome, Italy?
