Yes Alan, absolutely correct. Depending upon where you clamp the element
there can be a VERY small orifice which, with that backplate, was probably
sufficient to produce the stain.
Frankly I'm stunned that this would have got by "Engineering ".
If it wasn't for the fact that I have fitted a PCV system to this engine I
would most definitely be taking steps to correct the situation.
