Thanks Kees. The 1.5ohm is for V8's. 3 ohm for 6 and 4's. That was my concern with using the 1.5 for the Healey 6.Tom

The Pertronix ignition (and many other electronic ignition
systems) usually needs a resistance of 3 Ohm. A lower resistance
may lead to failure of the Pertronix. A 1,5 Ohm coil should be
used together with a 1,5 Ohm ballast resistor. If you use a 3 Ohm
coil you will not need the ballast resistor.

For those who use Pertronix AND a 40K coil, have you ever
used a 1.5 ohm coil in your Healey? Reason for asking---I
believe my coil to be going bad, so will replace it. I have a
Pertronix 1.5ohm coil. it states that 6 cylinder engines need
to use the 3 ohm coil--unless you are in a racing mode. just
wondering if any of you use the 1.5, and if so any
problems----i.e., what is the downside of using the 1.5?
thanksTom
