[Healeys] electric AC compressor

I did the same thing. There are several web pages devoted to installation of the Gen II by Vintage Air. I liked the bracket available from the fellow in Texas.... but the clearances to the hood and top radiator hose are very very close. As you said, there were a few challenges. Getting the main unit installed under the dash was tricky because of all the other plumbing and wiring bits and pieces; but, for me, the most challenging clearance/fit issues were with the radiator and fan assemblies. I was able to install a 14inch fan, but it required fabrication of some special baffling to ensure the air flow remained good through the standard car radiator. I like having the extra "engine cooling capabilities" offered by having an electric fan .... so I wired the a/c fan to an independent switch too. That way I can turn on the coolant fan even if the a/c is off. (So far, I've never needed it....but I've not driven the car in stop/go traffic like one finds in FL or CA.)

I put ac in my bj8. I live in SW Florida. This summer the car was drivable, not as cool as my daily driver but took the “edge” off.
Used vintage air from Summit Racing. Mine was a ComPac Gen II. If you have the car apart, it should be pretty easy. There are a lot of bits and pieces and wrestling with them.
