[Healeys] massive oil leak

I've not been following this string that closely as I have been travelling
but I thought that the initial posts described the leak as coming from the
engine-transmission junction and the small hole in the tranny. If that's
the case I don't see how a leak at the oil filter cannister could be the
cause.
I wonder if the scroll seal had been replaced by what we call a "proper"
rear seal and if it had somehow become dislodged, allowing major amounts
of oil into the bellhousing and ontio the garage floor?
