Roger,
"A colleague suggests that Permatex form a gasket aviation stuff - liquid
sealant in a tin .."
If you use this you may not be able to get it loose again.
A friend used it on his oil pan, when we went to remove it, it was brutal.
no leaks though.

There is also a Boiler (heat) high temp pressure sealant.
