[Healeys] Hammer for Wire Wheels

Harold,

Copper hammers are a very bad idea to actually use on your chrome knock-offs because of "work-hardening" - i.e. if you get a piece of metal or length of wire and bend it backwards and forwards repeatedly it gets hard and eventually breaks - that is what happens to the face of a copper hammer and plays havoc with the chrome plating.  Great for concours but practically useless.  I use lead.

Best.

I have copper hammers and deadblow plastic hammers. Both will damage a knockoff. Knockoffs tighten when the car is driven and can be extremely hard to remove. The best tool I have found is very expensive, but it was worth it to me because it makes it very easy to loosen and remove a knockoff. You can view it here: http://knockoffspinnertool.com/

Subject: [Healeys] Hammer for Wire Wheels

Hello,

In the service parts list for my BT7 there is a "Hammer - copper 11B5166" which is part of the tool kit. From other online sources I have concluded the hammer is a Thor brand. What is the model/part no.? Is it copper on both sides or copper and rawhide and what is the weight?

Thanks... harold
