Subject: [Healeys] Am I being heard out there?

I just testing to see if my email is going through to the list. I've sent two inquiries about a Bugeye and never see the message show up on the list. I know when I reply to things on the list my replies show up. It just seems when I initiate a new message they don't. So if you see this let me know.

Thanks.

I have made a claim with Hagerty, they were terrific. You should get an estimate from one or more shops as to what it would cost. They will send an adjuster out, who will take a look at the car and the estimates. Then they will cut you a check based on their information and the estimate you provide. I found them matched the estimate from the shop I got the quote from. Take the money, and just do whatever work you can yourself and use the rest for the body shop. If you have anything left, buy a few rounds for the rest of the Healy people at the pub. No, my rates did not go up.

I also have Hagerty and though I never put in a claim for work to be done, I did put in a claim for a complete loss. They were great to work with and no hassles. I would expect the same for you. Just be honest and let them know your plans. They understand people working on their own cars and they also understand your time is not "free".

To cover yourself, go to a local shop, explain your problem and get a ball park estimate. Relay that information to Hagerty. I have no real idea what they will say, but if my experience with them is relevant, they will work with you. Not, against you.

Good luck and let us know what you find out and here's to quick and semi-painless recovery.

Shroud appears undamaged, just the bonnet.

I have a couple vehicles insured with Hagerty, but have never made a claim. If they're like most insurers, though, they'll make an estimate and cut you a check (if they have their own adjusters). For labor rates, they likely have a chart for 'prevailing' rates in your area (I doubt it's much less than $100/hr anywhere in the States).

Looks like some damage to the shroud, or is that just water/extinguisher damage?

Damage at first look seems to be to wiring harness, bonnet paint, etc. Can't see that I could get a local shop to repair anytime soon and am considering doing the work myself, except for bonnet paint. Anyone have any experience how Hagerty would handle that? How would they pay for my labor?

Always knew I had a hot Healey,
