[Healeys] Hard top brochure

Well, I wasn’t considering DMHCo as in the BJ8 production business, although I know some cars were sent there from Abingdon for “special treatment”. BMC didn’t offer hardtops as an option on BJ8s, but whatever other parts they might have sold to special order, I don’t know.

Hello
Yes that’s correct. You could not have walked into your local BMC dealer/distributor and ordered a BJ8 with a hardtop. However my understanding was that convertible hardtops were available from the DHMC and some 200 were made in period.
If you wanted one on your car, than the soft top and mechanism had to be removed, as both the soft and hard tops could not be fitted at the same time.
Of course many more have subsequently been made and attached is a photo of a BJ8 with one.

According to Clausager, hardtops were never offered for BJ8s; however, the one car that actually has a hardtop listed in the “Factory-fitted equipment) was a special-order for one of the daughters of Len Lord. I guess if you’re the king, ANYTHING can be provided.

Hello
Did Jensen make the small number of factory hardtops for the BJ8?
Thanks

Recall everyone, that Jensen produced the "factory" hardtops for all the big Healeys. They also did the Sprite Hardtops despite losing the contract for the Sprite bodies. Then too, there were a number of aftermarket manufacturers such as Parrish and Universal that made hardtops for the 100, 100-6 and 3000, Hank (AHC Historian)
