Elton--

Aluminum tanks will not rust but they can corrode from the inside as a
result of water that accumulates either from condensation or from having
been absorbed by ethanol fuel. And unlike external rust which you can
easily see examining the interior condition of a tank must be done from the
inside. There are things that can be done: Draining the tank
periodically; keeping the tank either as full as possible if you run your
car year-round or totally empty if off the road during winter; avoiding the
use of ethanol fuel (not easily done), and; periodically using an additive
that allows the water to mix with the fuel and be burned off.

All that said I would opt for aluminum if I had to replace the tank in my
100.
