[Healeys] Electrical question

One time I  had the main ignition - coil wire fail in my BJ8 harness...
much smoke was released and I was not able to put the smoke back in the
wire.  turned off the battery switch, disconnected it, then ran a separate
main wire , turned switch back on and drove home...

!!
