[Healeys] tires

I also had same experience with Longstone recently buying 180 HR 15 XAS TIRES plus new tubes and delivery from Longstone direct to my home. Much less that Coker and the freight was included in the price. I installed my tires on my rims at a local Club here in SWFL. Then I searched for a Tire specialist who has the machine to shave and balance the tires. Put the tires into my SUV, Healey was not running, and drove across Florida to east coast. The mechanic was fantastic in shaving and balancing the tires and marking how the tires should be mounted on the vehicle. Truest on the front others on the rear. Very little shake at 55-60 only occasionally on rough roads. Saved a lot of money using Longstone and finding a Tire garage locally to do the shaving. They are out there just ASK Mr. Google “Tire Shaving and Tire Truing near me”. Be careful as not all have the dies to hold a wire wheel and the older shaving equipment from Amermac. Forget Tire Rack dealers they do not have the equipment.

Highway Auto and Tire, Palm City Florida and others use Amermac True Tuning/Shaving equipment: https://tinyurl.com/4nhkchbb

By the way, my tires rubbed the dogleg in the right rear tire on strong right turns just after installation last year. Checking the archives for those using 180 HRXAS tires it seems one or two listeners mentioned the problem. Why only a few. I believe Healeys sheet metal are not true one side to the other. Nevertheless, I do not find this rubbing a problem now with 1,000 miles on them. Maybe they have settled in?

I had the same experience buying my XAS from Longstone. Very good service and fast free shipping to US. I shipped my wheels to Hendrix and Longstone shipped the tires there, where they were mounted, balanced and shaved. I've owned XAS on several cars going back to 1972, I think they are a great tire.
