The oil seal doesn’t do much if the bearing block doesn’t seal. Installation of the felt dowels that seal the block is critical.

Thanks to all of you for your comments.  I will investigate the items outside of the engine and must wait to disassemble the engine for those inside the engine.  Meanwhile, I will buy lots of oil, Kitty Litter for the oil pans under the car and not go far from home.
