They numbered the glove boxes because the veneer was book matched, so if
you mixed them up, the sides would not match.  So the carpenters just
numbered them separately to make sure they always had the same bookmatch
set together.  The numbers would have been made with a china marker and
don't have any relevance to anything else otherwise.
