[Healeys] pilot bush quest

try as I may I cannot get the pilot bush to seat flush in the motion shaft opening.  if I do not get it flush against the ridge in the opening will this prevent the shaft from going in deep enough to allow the tranny to mate flush to the engine-----? ThanksTom
