[Healeys] Healey Morris Connection

This conversation is quite interesting to me as when I was interviewing Gerry Coker, he was upset when they went to the horizontal pattern. He made a point out of keeping vertical lines in the grilles of the 100 because Healeys always had vertical lines in their grilles. He was not a fan of the horizontal grilles at all. Personally, I like them on the 100 6's and the early 3000's, but that's just me and of course those horizontal lines would never have worked in the 100 grille.
In fact I remember him saying when he was tasked with fixing the fit of the grilles on the 100 6's, he said there wasn't much he could really do as they had ruined the look already with the horizontal grille.
If you haven't seen it, here's the interview I did back in 2008 with Gerry Coker at the AH Conclave in San Diego.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPHbli48uLM

What a surprise....

I heard that at some point the marketing people came to believe that vertical grilles were synonymous with higher class cars (Rolls, Jaguar, etc) leading to the return of up-and-down grille slats on the later cars.
Of course one then wonders why they ever went to horizontal to begin with.
