Process is complicated by the fact that the chassis (w/fenders but no doors) is up on a rotisserie. We may have to lower it onto a wheeled platform on the floor, as it’s now far too high in the air to reach with jacks….

Just did this not too long ago. You need a floor jack, bottle jack and a cargo strap. Put the floor jack under the spring and axle and place the floor jack under the spring with the u-bolt plate in place. Wrap the strap under the jack and over the axle and connect it to itself in a tight loop. All you need to do then is to pump up the bottle jack and it lifts the spring right up to the axle. Make sure the plate is positioned correctly so the peg on the bottom of the spring goes into the hole in the u-bolt plate. Also remember to position the strap so it is not in the way when you put the u-bolts in place. Easy peasy. See attached photos.
