[Healeys] Throttle linkage lubrication

Looked in the manuals regarding lubrication of the throttle rod ends and in the early 100 service manual it refers to using the “oil can”, to “lubricate all the hand brake linkage points, brake and clutch pedal linkages and carburetter control points, every 1000 miles” (pardon the spelling but its right out of the book).

Is it recommended to lube the throttle ball & socket joints or to leave them dry? 
I assume the same recommendation applies to both the steel type on 6 Cyl. cars & brass type on 100's.
