[Healeys] Holes

I feel your pain. I still have some holes to drill for tenax stud etc. and haven’t yet found the courage to do it. But then it’s only been a year...

Bill,
That makes perfect sense. I have the new cleats and all the hardware including the top hat spacer. Just have to drill out those rear holes for the extended boss. I hate drilling through new paint though.

Mike, the two holes are different sizes. The front one is about 1/8” in diameter as the fixing screw goes through it and into a matching threaded hole in the cleat. The rear hole is larger, looks about the size you show, because the cleat has a threaded extension that sticks through the shroud and is secured with a top hat style spacer and the screw. That is because the isn’t enough depth in the casting for the screw to extend through the bodywork.

Can't give you the hole distance but, from the tip of the trunk hinge to the closest point of the top socket is 1.25".

OK, so everyone on the list is busy today. I got no answers to my question. A friend suggested I feel under the inside of the shroud for a blob of Bondo near the existing hole. Well, here is what I found. On the passenger side it is quite evident this guy filled the hole behind the existing hole. I don't know if it is welded (I doubt it), but you can see where it was filled in. The other side is not so clear. This idiot cleaned the inside up where it will never show. I could not feel this with my finger. I had to get my cell phone and take a picture in selfie mode so I could see when to snap it. Just for once couldn't the body shop be normal and just leave a blob of Bondo like a normal person would.

Can someone with a 100 measure for me the distance from the tip of the trunk hinge at the top to the two holes for the convertible top retaining bar fitting? Somehow during the bodywork one of the holes was filled in on both sides. I can't be sure which hole they left there. If you expand the included picture you can see the single hole I have for the retainer bar fitting. I can't figure if this is the forward hole or the rear one.
