[Healeys] Early Jack Handle Sets

OK you guys… Here is where I was going….
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Short Arm
“Short Arm unknown. A person who arms do not reach far enough down to get to the money in the bottom of their pockets. This prevents them from paying for a round of drinks. i.e. George is a short arm he avoids paying for anything. “
No offense intended to Gary who keeps a credit card in his shirt pocket to pay for the next round of jack handles. He did mention a bar in his email…” I just spotted a discrepancy. My bar, the top bar in your photo,  measures 20.75" long.” See even his BAR is much longer than Michaels.
Perhaps wearing this mask and rebreathing my breakfast fumes all day long has hampered my ability to type coherently. 😊
OK back to other important “Healey matters”

Reminds me of my early days in the Australian army when we all had to attend a ‘short arm’ parade.

Being military I’ve heard of “short arms” before, but I had never thought they might be used to operate a jack handle...

Gary
The one you have was specifically supplied by Austin under part number FSA 2075 to new owners that had short arms…😊  Only an extra quid.  (FSA is short for For Short Arms)
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Michael,
Sorry for the slow reply. I have 2/3 of the jack handle set you are looking for. I have the top & middle bars in the photo you sent below. They appear to be in good condition. They do not have any identifying markings on them.
Make me a fair offer. Shipping & insurance will be extra.

I should have added a picture of what the original jack handle set looks like.

The response from people offering to sell a set has been, shall we say, underwhelming.
I guess I'm heading into it again ...
At least now I have the necessary materials.

I forget what they’re supposed to look like as have never had one. I have something similar which I “borrowed” from the army many moons ago. I carry that plus a small scissors which will do to raise the car enough to get the other jack in place.
However……..British eBay does show some hits for Shelley Jack Handles. But, are they what you need??

Agreed, my Shelly Jack is in the tool box in my garage for safe keeping. Never did have a handle.

Many years ago in the 80’s I bought a small scissors jack from Sears in a  nice plastic carrying case which fits nicely in between the tire and the battery in my BJ8.  Lightly used, but, really works when you need it.

I'll add that you REALLY want a geared scissor jack; I don't care what the jack's rated for, they're almost useless to lift a Healey (unless you're really a brute). I don't know why--maybe because they cost a few more bucks--but they're almost impossible to find anymore (I bought one for each of my cars years ago). Ex:

I have a similar one with an electric motor I keep in my Mustang.

ps. I'm guessing Michael wants a Shelley for originality.

You don't really Want to use a shelly jack. It's for originality and looks only. Get a small scissors jack from a small car from the 90s or similar. It might save your life.

Before I again launch into the time consuming process of making a jack handle set for the Shelley jack on the 100 that I'm finishing up does anyone by chance have one that they are willing to sell?
