[Healeys] Blanking Plate - Water Gallery

The plate is cast aluminum. If the engine has ever been run on straight water as a coolant it will probably have been damaged by electrolytic corrosion. How is parts availability for this item. Might be tough...

The blanking plates are very soft and they will come apart. Photos of my 36,000 mile  ’56 100M after the plate blew during a short drive.

Certainly recommend checking the inside of the plate for wear during any rebuild or coolant change.

Would anyone know the purpose of the plate? Perhaps in other engine installations the opening it covers serves another purpose?
