Hello all

I?ve been putzing with the top frame on and off for about a year - since I decided to change the top. Old top fit ok, but decided to get a bit anal before I put the new top on. Frame was ever so slightly wonky so I fiddled with it - slightly better, not perfect, but hopefully ok. 

When the top is dropped into the windscreen, the right hand side is about 1? short of where the left hand side is. Fiddled with the windscreen today and a bit better but still 3/4? short. 

Took a look at the frame, and I think I might have found the issue. The frame mounting point on one side or the other might be out. 

The attached photos show both sides. Note where the frame is in relation to the back of the door. 

Ignoring the fact the wood is chipped on one side and the frame needs repainting, which is correct?

 In addendum to yesterday's rant.? The one valve guide that is too big for the seal to fit thankfully is an exhaust valve.? I am just going to leave it off.? Not a necessity on the exhaust valves. So onward to the next assembly problem I run into.? Head rockers installation next.? If anyone has any tips for a four cylinder head installation, now is the time to speak up.Mike MacLean

 Well, for today's restoration rant I am going to talk about valve seals.? The head I bought from my late restorer friend was supposedly ready to install.? Not hardly.? I removed the valve springs to make sure all the valve seals were there.? I found o-rings on the valve stems at the valve guides and two valves even had the seal at the top right under the collets.? On initial startup of a 100M this head was on a valve bent damaging the valve guide and probably the hole in the head that the valve guide was pressed into.? I bought eight new valve guide seals from British Car Specialists a few days ago.? The box of seals came in today so I went to install them everything went fine until I got to the last valve. (the one that was replaced)? I removed the springs and found a valve guide much larger in outer diameter than the rest of the stock valve guides.? The seal will never fit over this valve guide.? Just wanted to say Hi. This is the first time I have emailed the Healey List. I have been following it for some time and find it rather addicting. There is so much experience and technical info that is shared by the list and I thank you for that. At some time I do hope that I can share / contribute to the group also.
Bringing the BJ8 out of its yearly hibernation and looking forward to some top down cruising soon.

Welcome Vic!? I've been on The List for a couple decades 'I think), and although the forums are fine the, uh, 'lack of structure' of The List is more fun IMO.

Over the years, The List has become impressively self-moderated. Can you believe 'Friday Funnies' was controversial for a while?? I guess we ran out of jokes.

Bob,

I didn't get it, but I'm not using Norton.  Don't know if Norton supports Linux or not.  I went to the page and looked at the HTML. 
There's nothing there but text and the PayPal button.  The HTML behind the PayPal button looks fine to my non-expert eyes. I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night. Clicking the button took me to the PayPal site.

You might send your email to mjb so he's aware of the issue.

Thanks Bob and Perry.? I suspected as much; anti-virus/malware software has always been hit-or-miss, and the developers usually err on the suspicious side.? Of course, too many 'false positives' leads to people disregarding the warnings, which makes the problem worse. And they're usually 'fighting the last war again.'
