[Healeys] moss water pump

I think they’re Indian which is not really a tick in the box!

For interest:-

When I got my kit from Michael I hadn’t told him which pump I had, so the more usual kit arrived. My error.

I decided to keep that and bought the correct one which I fitted.

I now had the other kit, but no dead pump. A friend gave me several and I rebuilt one. So that’s a spare pump now.

Being curious, I looked around on eBay and found that people were selling NOS pumps from Westminsters for MUCH less than the NOS Healey ones ever go for. Change the pulley and hey presto!

(Being sure to check you’re buying the right pump body!)

Yep;

It was a County, from China...likely the only source.

I had plans to rebuild mine but it broke apart in the process even being careful, sort of.

I had a leaky pump and bought a kit from Michael. Worked well. You really need a BIG VICE or a press….

I’ve never heard anything better than “it’s lasted so far” with reference to County pumps. When I was looking at my options and asking around, I found most of UK suppliers to be strangely reticent as to the manufacturer of their pumps. None of them failed a straight “Is it a County pump? Yes or no!”, but there was an amusing reluctance…

Couple of years ago I bought one out of the UK to avoid the issues others had with US sourced pumps. Turned out it was the same mfg. fit ok however and still works.

No on purchasing the pump, however, high running temps probably are not associated with the pump.

Howdy all,

 Has anyone recently purchased a water pump for the 3000 engine from Moss? There were comments about quality in the past. I replaced my pump as preventative maintenance about 10 years ago and 3000 miles. I am still chasing some high running temps. I was given a gift certificate for Moss and that I would replace the pump on the off chance it is my problem. The issue was with the County pumps. Wish I could find my original one and rebuild it...

Thanks
