Saw the movie a few days ago when I was at Daytona for the Classic 24 Hours with a friend who is an old-time (Can-Am & IMSA) racing mechanic.  His comment was that those who have been in professional racing will notice the incongruities and the "artistic license" taken; the rest of us will just enjoy the movie!  And the book is definitely worth reading for the deeper background.

As with all movies the story had to be considerably edited for time. If you want the whole story read the book it was based on, Go Like Hell by A.J Baime. 

A great read.
