[Healeys] fuel sending unit gasket

Hummm, … I have an aluminum tank, too. Maybe it’s the tank causing this and not the Viton gaskets. At any rate, I need to get it sealed, so I’m going with the sealant.

Further, I have one of "Pancho's" tanks, too. The sender flange was uneven, warped even (IOW, not well-made). I had to stack two cork gaskets with thin smears--you don't want a gob breaking off--of the fuel-resistant sealant.

Now you guys are going to make me rethink the Viton gaskets I used on my tank.

We just returned from 1700 miles in the Healey, and I smelled gas for the last 5 days of so… Turns out the Viton gaskets on the fuel sending unit aren’t sealing for me, either. Next step will likely be the fuel-resistant sealer…

FWIW, the viton gaskets didn't work for me; cork with a sealant did.

Not that I am endorsing them, but Moss recommends the use of Hylomar AF specifically for this purpose. By the way, it would be a positive upgrade to use the Viton replacement gaskets also available from Moss to replace the old cork type. While we are at it, you should replace the plastic float (if you have one) with a brass replacement type. OK, my lecture is over.

So, if it sounds and tastes like Hylomar, you should be OK.

I've had good results with this (looks, smells and feels like Hylomar):

What sealant should it use when installing this?
