Looks to me like the gasket for the heater outlet valve on 6 cylinder cars.

Hi,

After your great success in identifying the water pump gasket, I'm sure you
can tell me where the attached goes??

It was in a bag with the so-called seals and plugs for the main bearing
caps, but I've not touched anything in that area that requires this little
gasket.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Simon

That was me. I added the Moss cooler and the air shovel, temp dropped 10 degrees. I live in southern California.

Simon--

I believe the ideal temperature range for oil is between 230 and 250 degrees so perhaps you should take your oil's temperature after a good run to see if an oil cooler is indicated. There is such a thing as oil being too cool as one of the things we want to happen is for oil to get warm enough--above 212--to cook off any water that may have formed from condensation.

Without a hole in the shroud I doubt that the oil cooler would do very much cooling though someone recently posted a picture of a sheet metal "shovel" that mounts just beneath the shroud to hopefully duct air up to an oil cooler.

Best--Michael Oritt

My nephew?s BJ8 came with a boot full of mixed blessings from its PO. Amongst all the manuals and stuff were two boxes containing an oil cooler and mounting kit. NOS.(Actually, these items dated back quite a while?2 or 3 POs back).

So, he gave them to me as he wasn?t remotely interested in fitting them. I took them back to the UK and determined that I might fit the cooler ?one day?. Well, as the car is up on a stand with the radiator out, it seems that the day may have arrived. Minimal amount of work compared to having to do it from scratch? Now:-

1.	For someone who lives in a temperate climate and who seldom goes all that fast in his Healey, how much benefit is there in a cooler?
2.	The Denis Welch brackets look pretty good. Fit onto the lower radiator mounts. Designed for their cooler but I think mine can be shoehorned in.

Has anyone tried these brackets?

How easy/hard to fit?

3.	I will not be cutting any holes. The cooler would sit in front of the radiator in line with the lower mounts.

Is it a waste of time to put the cooler in there without a dedicated hole?

Will I gain as much heat by blocking some airflow to the radiator as I lose with the cooler?

4.	Seems like an oil cooler may just be a waste of effort???

Any thoughts?

Simon

Hi All,

I just wanted to say thanks for all the support and words of
encouragement I've received from everyone, on and off the list. The
Parts Lists seem to be popular, with hundreds of visitors and
thousands of pages served over the past two days.

I changed because I wanted to get rid of the inner tubes. When I replaced
the tires on the MGC for the first time I found that the previous owner had
made no provision for protecting the tubes.

In trying to find a price for the Minilites I noticed that Victoria British
had them on sale very spring. That was a while ago, but they were
consistent. I finally found a perfect set at an autojumble at a price so
low forgot to bargain.

Healey wheels were never on sale, but the MGCs were. Same wheels. I don't
know how the VB wheels compare to the Moss, but I"ll bet they are the same.

Mike,

Unfortunately, no, I never started digitizing the Parts List for the
BN1/2. I started with the BJ8s and worked backwards, and unfortunately
the project stalled with the BN4/6 lists. The code that produced the
later lists so well didn't work with the slightly different format of
the earlier lists; I tried to modify my code but failed. I think I
dreaded writing a new codebase from scratch, so ran out of steam. I
did try to resurrect the project a couple of times, but never could
find the time to complete it.

John

I suspect that the MiniLite look-a-likes like Panasports, VTO etc. are
made by the same producer, the ones I have seen are all nigh identical
in design, detail and finish. They were all bearing the same makers
mark. Just the hub caps were different.

The main advantage of the aluminium wheels is strength, stiffness,
alignment, tubeless tyres, no need of maintainance, safety etc. The
steering will be much more precise, no wobbling wheels anymore, easy to
balance, less flat tyres, no broken spokes to repair.

OK, the looks are not great compared to wire wheels, but that is the
only pre really.

what a fantastic work and how much time and knowledge are in there.

Betreff: [Healeys] Austin Healey Parts Lists for the BN4 through BJ8 are now
online

I was talking to Michael Salter yesterday and the subject came up of the LBC
Digital Parts Lists that I created for the Austin-Healey more than a decade
ago. Michael asked me me why I hadn't put those online; I said because of
inertia (i.e. laziness), so not really a reason at all.

So in the spirit of community, I have put the Austin Healey Parts Lists
online for all to freely use. You can see them by going to
http://lbcdigital.com. These aren't just PDFs of the Parts Lists, these are
transcribed, fully searchable databases that are presented in a similar
format as the original publications. You can search for part numbers and
keywords, and even print pages.

Over the years, I felt that the hundreds of hours of effort that I put in
creating the Parts Lists should be rewarded and I shouldn't just give away
all that work. But then I realized that the digitized Parts Lists really
should belong to the Healey community. I understand now that helping to keep
our Healeys on the road is the reward.

Enjoy!

Reinhart,

Thanks!

Like any website, the Parts Lists won't be accessible or usable if you
are offline. But there are programs (like HTTrack for Windows and
Linux, or SiteSucker for Mac) that will allow you to copy an entire
website to your hard drive. I haven't tried either of those programs
to see if they will work with my site, but I can't see why they
wouldn't.

I guess if there is enough demand, I could post zip files of the Parts
Lists for download, which could then be extracted and used offline.

John
