[Healeys] FW: mystery tool for Austin-Healey

The rear hub nut for the 5-stud Big Healey rear axle is 2-3/16” (2.1875) across flats. However it is also an octagonal (8 sided) nut which makes getting a socket for it tricky.

Just checked the socket for mine (BJ8) and it is 2 1/4"----if I know what you are referring to. This is for the thin nut that goes over the axle shaft.

The 2 1/8 inch dimension is much too big for the rear hub nut, which from memory is something around 35 or 36 mm which is between 1 ¼ and 1 ½ inches

Was your mechanic after making one of these?

WOW – talk about unanimity! All seven of you had the same answer.

Many thanks from both of us------
