[Healeys] Valve Clearances for an M

Great information and I might get some more information later today from the previous owner that will shed some light on the subject. As of right now, yesterday I checked all the clearances and everyone of them was tight. Like I couldn't even get a 0.008 feeler gauge to slide in! Everyone! So I set them all to 0.015 which was the majority of the responses on this list. I can always go back and change, but as has been suggested, I'm just guessing now and I figure this is a good starting point.
I am also using the OA6 needles right now, the rich ones. I have a set of OA7's, so that will be the first change if things don't work right. I have to make some wires for my new alternator this morning, so stay tuned and updates will follow.
Again, thanks to everyone for their input, suggestions and wonderful help.

A high lift cam means that the valves come off the seat earlier and land back on the seat later than standard. That limits the valve's dwell time on the seat, which is critical to heat transfer from the valve to the seat. Greater clearance is the compromise to extend valve life. Isky specifies 0.018" for my cam. If you know the source of the cam I would go back to them for the spec.

I have the OA6, OA7, and OA8 needles and have tried them all. I found that, at least at this altitude (5,000-6,000 feet), the standard OA7s give the best results.

OK folks, I know the setting for valve clearances on a 100 is 0.012, but when a hotter cam gets put in to a 100 with larger carbs and different pistons, does it stay 0.012? I am going to check all of the clearances on the set up as it sits now before I do any adjusting of anything, but thought I would run this by everyone before I touch or move anything. Thanks in advance.
And just as an update, I got the OA6 Rich needles in now, I brought both jets up in the carbs evenly and then let them back down 12 flats each, so I've now got a base line to work with. I am re-installing the alternator conversion that was Mickey Moused into position with the Moss/AH Spares kit, which is quite nice nice and then I also just got a Snap On timing light so I can set the advance accurately. It's coming along, slowly, but that's okay, I'm in no big hurry, I just want it right as I plan on driving the wheels off of this car.
Thanks again for any information you might pass along!
