Hi Bruce, I'm pretty sure that you are talking about the holes for the turn
signal warning lights.
I've attached a picture from the handbook.
The holes are about 3/8" diameter and are deeply counterbored from the back
about 1" diameter to accommodate the body of the lamp leaving only about
1/4"
I have a pair of the lamps that I  can use to provide dimensions if you
need them but it may be a couple of days.
