[Healeys] Back up/ reversing light

Now here is something interesting.

 

Attached is a photo of the gearbox fitted to the BN3. It’s a 100S box (1003) fitted with an overdrive. The bellhousing is quite different as it has rather large drain holes at the bottom and a reversing light switch which I have never connected up. Heavens knows where the Donald Healey Motor Company got it from.

There really isnt anywhere on the transmission to install  a switch. How about bypassing the panel light switch on the dash and use that as a switch to turn on a reverse light. We use that one many time for driving lights.

Listers, 

 

I have often thought about installing a back up light on my BJ8.  There are many on the market so actually obtaining a period correct unit is not an issue.

 

This past weekend, I found myself in a position where I needed to reverse and go forward a couple of times to get out of a parking space.  I decided that I need to look hard at installing the light.

 

Now, the question is where and how to install it and more importantly, how do I wire the light to come on when I shift into reverse.

 

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
