Hi Wayne, Yes not unheard of as the studs go right through into the water
jacket.
You might get away with installing the studs into the block using a good
quality pipe "dope" but I have, in the past, had to turn up some special
oversize studs to prevent leakage. Not easy if you don't have a lathe.
