[Healeys] FW: Sorry - No Thermostat Content

John,

I'm glad you asked! Since my car is a driver and there are so many people on the road paying very little attention to their surroundings, I wanted much more noticeable stop and turn signal lamps. After considering all the options, I found a very simple and inexpensive solution at Walmart of all places.

I purchased this Alpena high output 24" LED strip. Walmart Alpena 77702 Red 24-Inch Strip<https://www.walmart.com/ip/Alpena-77702-Red-24-Inch-Max-LED-Strip/49963974> It's for 12 volt automotive system and it is very bright!. The strip uses a 3M adhesive to stick on the bumper. There are two wires coming off one end of each strip. I stuck the strips onto the bumper so the wires come out in the center then ran the wires into the boot alongside the license plate light wires. (no modifications) One wire from each strip goes to ground and the other goes to the brake - turn signal wire. My car is negative ground but this would work with either negative or positive systems. Apply the brakes and both strips light up. Select one of the turn signals and the appropriate side lights up with the car's turn signal light. I feel much safer on the road with this modification.

(They have several colors but my local Walmart was out of red for the photo)

Beautiful Dan! Tell me about the red light strips on the rear bumper.

P.S. Your message does have thermostat content, check the last sentence. :)

I apologies to the group, I have nothing to say about thermostats.

I WOULD like to thank the group very much for the many years of advice and help you provided me during my restoration project. You helped me in too many ways to mention.

I purchased my father's Tri-carb after he had completely disassembled it with the thought he would restore it. The car had been sitting in cardboard boxes in a storage facility for many years before I convinced him to sell it to me. I had never restored a car before and knew very little about the inner workings of a Healey. However, I took my wife out for our first date in this car and wanted to see it back on the road again. After retrieving it from storage, I worked on the car as finances allowed. Raising a family, college expenses, etc. all got in the way of progress but I worked on the car out of my garage as time and funds permitted. I did everything myself except some metal work and paint, I even got my granddaughter to help. It took over twenty years and an unknown amount of money (my wife covers her ears when I talk about $$$$) I've been enjoying driving it this summer when the Tennessee days are cool enough. It runs great, the thermostat works perfectly along with everything else!

I couldn't have done it without you!
