[Healeys] 100 door hinge bolt

Michael, What you explain there Michael is that it forces the door to actually stay open a little more and by forcing it to close the door will either rise or drop a little, turning that bolt even more will cause to door not to close at all, not really what one wants. I think that by this bolt being out a little puts too much pressure on the door, not sure what the initial purpose of that bolt is but I doubt very much that it is to adjust the door at its latch.

Certainly useful for that Roland but I can't see that being part of the original assembly process.
What I have discovered is that if the bolts are turned out just a little the contact the other hinge plate when the door is colsed and raise or lower the back of the door considerably.
Could that have been their purpose?

It stabilises the nut plate and makes fitting the big screws in place easier. I cut the head off a bolt, slot the end and screw it into that center hole. That lets me install the doors single handedly as i "fly" the door over the newly made studs.

No idea why they were made with that hole in the first place.

The early 100 door (the flat aluminium type) have a hex head bolt in the center of the door post hinge plate.
The only purpose that I can imagine for this bolt is some sort of door adjustment ... does anyone know more?
