[Healeys] Tire/wheel combo for BT7

Years ago when I ran my BT7 on 185 series Cinturatos, I simply removed the block on the bulkhead altogether and the spare then just barely fit; the trunk lid touched the tire, but still closed and sealed. The bar and leather strap was easily sufficient to keep it all in place. Back on the correct 165 series now and the car is noticeably nicer to drive. Of course I kept the block and re-installed it for the 165 spare.

You do not need to have a 185 series tire in the trunk as a spare. Mount a 165 series tire for a spare and it will fit with out modifying anything.

Thank you all for your input. I think I'm going to modify the block on the rear bulkhead and go with a 60 spoke 185/15. The 48 spoke wheel that I have is in really poor condition and going tubeless is a plus for me. So I'm going to take this opportunity to upgrade. Again, thank you. This list is the best resource.

You can get that size wheel and tyre in the trunk. I have 72 spoke 5’'” 185 x 15 Pirellis on my car and as a spare in the trunk.

You need to move the locating block on the rear bulkhead up by about an inch by making a simple bracket to lift the height of

the block slightly higher. Only a concours expert will know you have lifted it

Listers,

I will be replacing the original painted 48 spoke wire wheel and 15 year old 165/15. I'd like to get a larger wheel/tire combo as a spare. I have 72 spoke wheels on 185 Vredresteins that do not fit in the trunk What is the largest tire/wheel combo that will fit in the trunk (boot).

Thanks,

Mark Fawcett
