Yes, I am prying it up, but it does not move easily.  When I pry it up there is pressure on the wheel cylinder making it difficult to slide out.  Heck, it's been in there 61 years.

One of the plates has two lock tabs on the end. I think it is the plate facing down. You need to pry it up and then it will slide off.

Is there a way to remove the rear axle brake cylinder without destroying the two plates that lock together to hold it to the backplate?
