Great work by your Dad.  My Mom was a bookkeeper for Maxim Motors (later
bought out by Seagrave) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxim_Motors  and I
always enjoyed going into the shop and seeing the trucks they built from
the chassis up.  Lots of hand fabrication.
