 Thanks David for the answer.
Nisonger has rebuilt the ALL the guages.  But I can take my GPS and recheck it again.
Tire size is a worn ( Like need replacement) 165/15 from Big O tires.  As soon as I find some one who can install tires, true wire wheels including spoke adjustments and shave the tires I will get new ones.  Any suggestions?
The Carbs have been rebuilt for the second time less than a year ago.  I have a Pertronics distributor  ( installed and set up by a local garage less than a year ago ).   I just got done adjusting the mixture and it acts just like the book says  ( lift the needle and rpm increase momentarily and then it returns to an idle.  Although I did find it was running on one carb.  The screen on the back carb was clogged and not passing any gas.  Isn't Ethonal great!!!!
I might not that the engine only has 16K on it.

I have run out of ideas, as you can see.  So any more advanced ideas would be geatly, greatly appreciated.  Hopefully I live long enough to resolve this problem.
Again thanks for your words of wisdom................................      Al

When checking gas mileage there is a lot of things to look at.    First of all is that odometer correct. I have an app on my phone that I use to confirm speed and mileage.    Tire sizes will make a big effect on mileage.    Timing, mixture, worn carb needles, etc David Nock

The  mileage I get ( 14 - 15 MPG) is fairly steady.  Folks keep saying I should be getting 18 BUT I don't know how to do that.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
When I remove the plugs they are a very light tan which I believe is correct mixture.  What else can one do??????

My car has a standard metal tank but like some of the replies can only get 49 litres (= 13 US gals into it) measured at a gas pump. Well I thought that it was standard. Maybe pumps are not correctly calibrated and getting free gas ... ha ha Suspect that is an original manufacturing quality issue and that many people could have this issue (smaller tanks) with their cars but not realize it as they rarely run out or drain their tanks and simply “fill up” Any other ideas welcome rg        From: David Nock BCS Sent: Wednesday, October 4, 2017 9:20 AM To: John Spaur ; 'i erbs' ; 'Albert Seminatore' Cc: 'Ahealey help' Subject: Re: [Healeys] Fuel Tank size      Are we talking about a new steel or aluminium tank, I have measured a new alloy tank and a original steel tank and they are almost identical in size.    I have filled up the OE tank with about 14 gals of water. The poured that into the new tank and the capacity of the new tank is actually a little larger.     David Nock

If you are getting that kind of mileage you are not driving it hard and fast!

always thought it was a 12 US gallon tank. Maybe you have lots of crud in your tank...

I get about 18 MPG and can go over 200 miles between fill ups on long drives

Roger I have the same problem.  They say it was supposed to be over 14 gallons or about 54 liters.  I ran mine out of gas.  Put two gallons into.  Should have been able to fill it with 12 gallons - distance to the station was less than a mile.  I actually put in 8.5 gallons.  I looked through the Moss Cat. and can find no specs. on the capacity of the tank.

So I just have to plan carefully where I am going.  Here in NV you can go long distances between stations.

I wonder how many other folks have the same problem???
