[Healeys] Tires

Yes, they do. They could be tubeless if the manufacture had of added continuous sealing ribs to the tire bead. It’s a small design change to the mold. BTW, I don’t think they are actually manufactured by Michelin.

First, thanks to all for the input on tires.

I have Dayton wire wheels and the Michelin ZX tires I am replacing are tubeless. Am I correct that the Michelin 180HR15 XAS require a tube?

Hello,

Roger pointed me in the direction of the Longstone Michelin 180HR15 as well and I plan to buy a set. Another benefit is they will slightly improve ground clearance and every bit helps. However, the minimum rim width for the 180HR15 is 4.5". I believe all of the 48 spoke wire wheels have a width of 4" and are too narrow. Most of the 60 and 72 spoke rims are 4.5" wide or more.

Several people on the forum have bought from Longstone in the UK and got free shipping:

Roger,

The Michelin XAS 180-15 looks very good to me. Is there a US supplier?

Thanks.

165-15 tires are all a little smaller in diameter compared to the original 590-15 cross ply.

Maybe consider the Mich. XAS 180-15 tires that are 3% taller and so fit better in the wheel wells, but you do have to be careful with some clearances.

I am very happy with mine after about 4k mi

Hello list. It has been awhile since I had a question for the group.

I need to replace my 12 year old Michelin ZX175R15 tires on my ‘61Austin Healey with modern tubeless wire wheels.

The only ones I can find that are close to that size are Michelin XZX 165SR15 or Vredestein 165HR15.

Opinions on these??

Recommendations for a tire shop in Southern California that knows how to mount and balance wire wheels?

Thanks,
