As long as you don't break the capillary tube, the gauge will work as it
should. The tube is made of a very soft metal and can be straightened if
done carefully

Subject: [Healeys] Smith's Gauge Oil / Temp Gauge Sensor

I recently purchased a replacement Smiths Gauge Oil / Temp Gauge. The gauge
was shipped loose in the box and the sensor wire was bent at 90 degrees
during shipment. If I bend the wire back would it likely be reliable or
should I return it to the vendor?

Best,

Dan Corning
