[Healeys] Fw: hats

I bought my '67 BJ8 new in Miami and it was my every day car for 7 years. The heat from the engine was great in the winter time, all two weeks ot it. The rest of the year was like a furnace. After about two years I got a Parrish (now Smoothline) hard top and installed a "Coolaire of Miami" air conditioning unit. I was tired of arriving at my destinations soaking wet. And it wasn't too "cool" going on a date and getting your date all hot and sweaty too with out even touching her. I've got the skin cancer too now in my 70's and get the liquid nitrogen freezing, cutting them off and chemical peels with Efudex on the stubborn areas. No fun. The air conditioning was a factory authorized installation. See this Ebay link and click on the second thumb nail pic bellow the large pic to see the Healey dash installation: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coolaire-of-Miami-Copies-of-Original-MGB-Austin-Healey-Factory-Sales-Brochures-/152163139546

See my attachment for the hard top.

Listen to Ira.  The sun has been damaging my skin all the way back several decades to my days of being a Lifeguard.  My dermatologist's eyes rolled back when I said I drive a top-down sports car.  One look at my arms brought an immediate diagnosis of sun damage.  I now wear a Safari style hat with skirt to cover my ears and neck, long sleeve shirt, and gloves.  I apply SPF 50 sunscreen on face, the exposed skin below my chin, hands and ears.  This in no way deprives me of the pleasure of driving my Healey.  Hopefully, it will allow me to do it longer.

Every six months I get a check up that usually involves freezing pre-cancers or cutting out the questionable ones for biopsy.  Wait until you need the Blue Light or the 5-FU treatment.  Not fun procedures.  If any biopsy comes back as Melanoma, your odds of living a long and fruitful life are in jeopardy.

If you feel you have to drive with all that skin exposed and have not seen a dermatologist lately, I recommend you make your appointment NOW!
