Three eights of an inch insertion at the speedometer head. Any more will damage it according to MoMa.

Hi all,  I am installing a new speedo cable and I think the inner cable is too long.  With the instrument end fully seated and the knurled nut hand-tightened, can anyone tell me how far the inner should protrude at the other end?

Thanks,  Mirek
