[Healeys] Fw: Steering box

If you have a grease-gun tube of corn head grease as sold at John Deere stores, just take the tip off the chuck on the grease gun--you do have a flexible hose on the gun, right?--and pump away. l think that will push the lighter oil out through the fill port.  You will want to protect your floor, of course.  I topped mine off a few weeks after the fill.  I had no need to empty the original oil, which unexpectedly dumped itself without a hint of prior leaking.

Well, if no oil is coming out then all is fine, isn't it. Just fill it with the grease. Unless you want to rebuild it of course, but then you will have to take it out of the car anyway.

Who’d believe it? Plainly, I’ve prised the thing forward and still nothing oozes.Question:- if I remove the 4 bolts and ease the front plate off, will the whole thing fly apart like some demented Swiss watch? Or will it come off and just be a PITA to replace??(Or both??!!)Simon
