Bruce, it is obviously a departure from the original, but I got tired of resting the boot lid on my head while I fixed the manual support rod. My buddy, Steve Thomton, owner of a multiple award winning BJ7 Rally Tribute car gets all the credit for fabricating the bits and pieces. Does require a small slot in the armacord. I love it, but some won't. To each his own.
