[Healeys] Oil change and Radiator Flush

Well, actually, the population went from two to three for a split second before dropping back to two!

George and Sherry Haywood in their BJ8 and I alone in mine had spent the night in Tuba City, AZ on our way home from Conclave in San Diego. While topping off the tanks at the town's only intersection, I suddenly heard the unmistakable sound of a Healey approaching and looked up just in time to see Gary flash through the green light on his way back to North Carolina. He never saw us, but The Silver Bullet is a rather unusual car and Gary is hard to miss! We would never have been able to catch him at that speed, and we were going in the opposite direction to visit the Grand Canyon anyway. What memories these long Healey trips generate!

Yes, Michael, it was a wonderful trip that I'll always remember. Missed you on the one to San Diego in 2008. That oil change was done in Durango, Colorado at "Jiffy" Lube. Only took an hour and a half because everyone ahead of me was opting for "the works".

Steve--

I clearly remember our stopping in Ely and your doing this--cannot recall if I changed my oil but do remember that I cleaned what passed for an air filter in the CAB. That was a great trip.

I have always done oil changes and lubrications of all my cars myself, but during my drive to Lake Tahoe for Open Roads 2002, I decided my BJ8 needed an oil change in Ely, Nevada so I stopped at a service station. I had to stop the guy several times from putting the drain plug back in while the oil was still running out. I think I'll just keep on doing the job myself until I can't pick myself up off the floor afterwards.
