Hello Pierre-Henri,
Welcome to the world of Austin Healeys. I too would suggest that you pass on that specific car. You took the first step here letting it be known that you are looking for a car and some may approach you with offers of cars. I would also look within some of the national and international Austin Healey clubs as members are always selling for one reason or another.

Subject: [Healeys] New guy after advice
Hello, I’ve only just joined the List which I find very interesting. It is good to know that there is so much experience and knowledge available to an amateur like myself. My uncle, Simon Lachlan, has been a member of the List for about 20 years and he says that it is invaluable.
You may remember that he mentioned that his nephew was looking at a BJ8 near Paris, where I live, and that he asked if anyone knew that car’s particular history. I was eventually able to force the chassis number from a reluctant vendor and then, of course, Steve gave me a ton of information. (It turns out that both front wings and front scuttle were fibre glass so I left it.)
Anyhow, I am still searching for a decent car. Must be LHD and must be a BJ7 or 8, preferably Phase 2. I live in Paris but am prepared to travel to look at any such important purchase. I am, for example, in touch with a vendor in Rome at the moment.
Now, as a newcomer, I know virtually nothing of the Healey world so can I ask for some information and advice?
1) Is there a register for BJ7s, similar the one run by Steve for BJ8s? And who do I contact?
2) I’ve found a car in Los Angeles that I will be able to look at in about two weeks time. (SEE ATTACHED). Coincidentally, I shall be over there on holiday. Anyhow:-
Does anyone know this car (see attached the numbers and the link to the add with quite a lot of photos)?
Can anyone vouch for the vendor?.....It all looks good, but Los Angles is a long way from Paris!
3) Does anyone, anywhere, know of a suitable car within practical shipping distance?
Thanks and wish me luck,
Pierre-Henri Claret.

Hi,
I'm a french buyer interested in this car. Would you have the following numbers for that car?:
-clutch line, body number, batch number, VIN, and the engine serial number.
Are those the original interior and exterior colours?
Do you have the car's history? Has it been driven in dry states only?
Do you know how much would all the costs be to import it to France (Paris).
I should be coming to LA ends of July.
Kind regards,
PH CLARET
