[Healeys] Reading the dip stick

G’day

To read the dipstick is simplicity itself.

The top line is maximum and the bottom line is minimum. Everything in between is okay. If it drops below the bottom line you need to top it up, but not past the top line. If after topping up the level is somewhere between the lines, that’s okay. You could say that between the top and bottom line is the comfort zone as far as oil level is concerned.

That's what I've always thought (but British is a second language to me) .Hence you would want the oil level at the top line at the start of a long trip and, if you use synthetic oil, it will be at the bottom line at the end.

I know this may sound silly but the upper line is the High level Wink

Quick question: On the transmission dip stick (BN7) there are two engraved lines near the bottom of the stick.

Between the two lines is the word “LOW” and above the second line the word “HIGH”.

When is the oil level correct? When it is at the upper line or above the upper line?

Does “LOW” refer to the lower line or anywhere between the two lines?

Thanks,

Ron
