[Healeys] Ignition Problem

I purchased a new Distributor Cap a couple weeks ago to replace my 50+ year old Lucas.  When I put it on, the car really misses. I checked the continuity from the cap posts to spark plug connections……all good.   But, when I checked the coil button in the cap to the coil lead …… I do not have continuity.The old cap has continuity to the coil.Am I missing something?  Should the small spring under the center coil button be in contact with the screw?
